COP15 refers to the 15th Conference of the Parties of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark, 7-18 December 2009. COPs have been held annually since the UNFCCC entered into force in 1994. At COP15 this year, the parties are due to conclude negotiations on the future of the Kyoto Protocol.

 

Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency

The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, Sida is an authority under the jurisdiction of the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Sida has three main functions. Firstly, to suggest strategies and policies for Swedish development cooperation at the request of the government, secondly to implement strategies and manage contributions, and thirdly to participate in Sweden’s advocacy work and dialogue with other countries and international organisations.

The Italian Ministry of Environment and the Protection of Territory and Sea

Italy's Ministry of Environment is actively engaged in environmental education and sustainable development. It focuses particularly on the promotion of public awareness, aiming to encourage consciousness of environmental matters and behaviour.  Stefania Prestigiacomo is Italy's Minister of Environment.

 

 

V. Kann Rasmussen Foundation

The V. Kann Rasmussen Foundation was founded in 1991 and has laid emphasis on environmental grant making ever since. This includes funds to strengthen environmental research and education, and to advance the involvement of an informed public in environmental decision making. They seek to accentuate cooperation across disciplines and among people and institutions in all of their grants.

 

The Edgerton Family Foundation

The Edgerton Family Foundation mostly funds imaginative programs in a variety of fields. The late Harold "Doc" Edgerton was a prominent MIT professor, inventor of the strobe light, and took iconic photographs using strobe (such as the milk drop coronet, and the bullet through the apple). He was also a founder of EG&G, Inc, a science-based company. He and his wife Esther established the foundation. Throughout their lives the Edgertons founded many projects, including the Edgerton Research Vessel and the Edgerton Explorit Center.

Global Canopy Programme

The Global Canopy Programme is an alliance of 37 scientific institutions in 19 countries, which lead the world in forest canopy research, education and conservation. Our work programmes all aim to define and explore the range and economic value of forest ecosystem services and to share our findings with decision-makers in Government and finance. Time is not on our side as the conversion of ancient forests proceeds apace worldwide. Policy and positive incentive mechanisms based on sound science must urgently be developed to preserve these vital 'eco-utilities' for humanity.

International Media Support


International Media Support (IMS) is a non-profit organisation working with media in countries affected by armed conflict, human insecurity and political transition. In more than 30 countries worldwide, IMS helps to strengthen professional practices and ensure that media and media workers can operate under challenging circumstances.

 

 

Global Forum for Media Development (GFMD)

The GFMD is a membership network of media development organisations established to create a platform for media development practitioners to interact with each other as well as with donors, governments, policy makers. The GFMD's main mandate is to promote recognition of the importance of free, independent, pluralistic and viable media to human and economic development. It promotes common standards among media assistance organisations and is creating a real community of media development practitioners. The GFMD process started at the first ever international meeting of media development groups in Amman in 2005; it was launched as a membership network at the GFMD World Conference in Athens in December 2008 and currently has some 120 organisations from 80 countries in membership.

The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) advances human wellbeing, environmental conservation and equity by conducting research to inform policies and practices that affect forests in developing countries. CIFOR is one of 15 centres within the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). CIFOR's headquarters are in Bogor Indonesia.
